Ismail Mataqi is having more than 28 years of diversified experience ranging from surface facilities’ Projects designs, planning and execution and HSE Management system in Kuwait Oil Company (KOC). Currently he is heading a team of about 25 qualified HSEpersonnel who look after HSE issues of West Kuwait fields of Kuwait Oil Company. He is the person and backbone for setting up of HSE Team in one of the far away desert locations of Kuwait. Starting from scratch, he implemented the Company’s HSE Management system at West Kuwait fields effectively and now the results of HSE performance speak about the efforts. HSE(WK) team has now been recognized as one of the distinguished Teams in KOC in initiating HSE projects and issuing quality in their business. Under his leadership and able guidance, extensive efforts and works concerning HSE were executed in West Kuwait fields which contributed to a radical change in the HSE culture in the area of his jurisdiction. He is an active member of Project Management Institute, Society of Petroleum Engineers and also of Kuwait Society of Engineers, which is the largest association of Engineers in Kuwait. He presented a number of technical papers on various platforms viz. ASSE, Middle East Chapter, SPE Conferences, Praxis Global Conferences (where he has been a Steering Committee member, as well) and Fleming Gulf Conferences which were held in different regions of the world.
